Add12th Jan 2020 5:10AMNZRB soldier standing on Essex bridge, near Shugborough, Great Haywood , Colwich, Staffordshire. England. Essex bridge is a grade 1 listed packhorse bridge over the River Trent. Built probably in the 16th Century by the Earl of Essex who lived at nearby Charley Castle. It is said that it is the least-altered old bridge in the county. Made from stone, and of 14 spans with rounded arches and cutwaters on both sides with recesses. It is only 4 feet wide between the parapets.
